Capture One 21 (14.0.0) is a feature release containing new functionality, new camera and lens support, and important bug fixes.

New Features in Capture One 21

Speed edit allows for a combination of keypress and mouse movement to apply adjustments from tools. Save time by making adjustments without having to take your eyes off the screen. Adjust the size and hardness of your brush without having to click into the brush menu.

Eliminate haze and improve saturation in flat-contrast images. The new Dehaze tool will automatically analyze the image and detect where contrast and saturation are needed.

Capture One 21 introduces a new type of camera profile (for select cameras including the Phase One IQ3 100 and IQ4 150 digital backs), ProStandard, that renders colors more naturally. Formerly, this kind of color control was only available in our Enterprise product for high-end studio users.

These profiles have multiple purposes:

  • Improved preservation of color across contrast gradients, resulting in more natural colors from shadows to highlights
  • Smoother transitions between colors of different hues
  • Better retention of colors when applying image adjustments
  • More standardized colors across different camera models

The new profiles are particularly suitable for portrait photography and product photography of products with saturated or otherwise challenging colors, such as orange and neon colors.

  • HEIF support
  • Leica tethering
  • Improved Importer
  • Easy brush adjusting
  • Improved performance
  • Enhanced tooltips
  • Easy access to tutorials

Capture One 21 (14.0.0) also contains user experience changes, general bug fixes, and under-the-hood tweaks.

Capture Pilot

With Capture Pilot, you can trigger a capture remotely* and browse, rate and examine images remotely, as they are shot. Capture Pilot enables a wireless connection between a web browser or iOS device with the current Capture One Session or Catalog.

Let your clients follow the shoot and give feedback with Capture Pilot to ease up the workflow and save time selecting shots for further editing.

Use the smooth Live View functionality with the IQ2 50MP, IQ3 50MP, IQ3 100MP, IQ4 100MP, and IQ4 150MP based camera systems, including full zoom capabilities.

It even includes geo-tagging functionality, allowing for the tagging of images with location data, both synchronously with the shoot, or at a time offset from the actual shoot.

We recommend that your computer has at least the minimum specifications outlined below to run Capture One.

Microsoft® Windows® minimum requirements

  • Intel or AMD CPU with 2 cores

  • 8 GB of RAM

  • 10 GB of free hard disk space

  • Color calibrated monitor with 1280×800, 24-bit resolution at 96dpi screen ruling

  • Windows 7® SP1 64-bit, Windows 8.1® 64-bit, Windows 10® 64-bit*

  • Microsoft® .NET Framework version 4.7 (will be installed if not present)

*Support for Capture One 12 on Windows 10 is supported for builds supporting .NET 4.7 – This is currently from Windows 10 Anniversary Update (build 1607) through to October 2018 Update (build 1809).

Apple® Macintosh® minimum requirements

  • Intel CPU with 2 cores

  • 8 GB of RAM

  • 10 GB of free hard disk space

  • Calibrated color monitor with 1280×800, 24-bit resolution at 96dpi

  • macOS 10.12.6, macOS 10.13.6 macOS 10.14*

*Support for macOS 10.14 is supported for builds up to 10.14.1

Recommended system requirements

If working with high-resolution images and doing calculation-heavy adjustments we recommend the following:

  • Intel CPU with 4+ cores

  • 16+ GB of RAM

  • Solid State Disk (SSD)

  • Dual (matching) Graphics card from NVIDIA or AMD with 4GB+ RAM per card

Note: Due to the significant additional calculation overhead, systems using 4k/5k monitors will require additional resources in addition to the above recommended spec (both in GPU and CPU power). For a Professional experience we recommend at least doubling the specification above for these configurations.
